MXL 603S Examples
[ Edit ]
As mentioned previously, I use a pair of MXL 603S condenser microphones for overheads. The only recorded examples I had before I bought them are gone with mp3.com’s demise, so I want to start posting some of my own.
- A short drum groove (192kbps mp3, 560KB). The room is pretty bright, with hardwood floors, but you get the general idea. I hope to have better demos later, after I get the chance to work on the room.
This was recorded on my setup, at 16bit/44.1kHz through my mobilepre USB. It’s probably obvious, but there are no effects, no EQ, or any other sound coloring other than the mics and the room. - An acoustic guitar excerpt (128 kbps mp3, 630KB). For her latest demo, Antje did some recording at a studio, some at home. This recording is a piece of one of the tracks she recorded at home using my 603s.
This was recorded on her digi001 interface into ProTools. I’m not totally sure about effects, but I’m pretty there aren’t any.

Thanks man. Very interesting...
Posted by: Keith Stalcup at June 17, 2006 7:33 AMA question - did you ONLY use the two overheads? Or did you use a kick mic too?
Posted by: Nakul at July 30, 2006 11:18 AMNakul - yes, that's just the two overheads.
Posted by: Joe at July 30, 2006 1:47 PMDo you have any more samples with the MXL603s? What cables do you recommend using? :)
Thanks,
Jeff
