Vic Firth Artist Videos
[ Edit ]
This doesn’t have anything in particular to do with production, but it’s good stuff. I was talking with a friend in San Francisco about cymbals and drumsticks, and he told me about a model made by Vic Firth of which I hadn’t heard: the AJ6 from the American Jazz series of drumsticks they make.
While I was looking at the sticks, I noticed the sidebar, which mentioned videos. Following some exploring and a whole bunch of downloading, I can tell you that Vic Firth’s website is a treasure chest of Quicktime videos for drummers and the people who love them. Check these out:
- Lessons with Dom Famularo, clinician extraordinaire
- Lessons with Ngudu Chancler, clinician extraordinaire
- Stick trick lessons with Jeff Queen
- Performance clips from Steve Smith, Billy Cobham, and Jack DeJohnette
All these and more are available in the educational section of Vic Firth’s website. I haven’t even started watching all these things yet, but they’re all free and of good quality. You will need Quicktime to view and enjoy them.
