Jingo
*** by Terry Pratchett. I finished this a few weeks ago, but I wanted to write about it then, and so I might as well now. And since there were no Terry Pratchett books listed on here yet, I figured I had to post about one. This a part of the Discworld series of books, and if you haven't read any then you really need to read some of them. This was an slightly above average book in the series, but not the best. Like the Pratchett books that I like better, he is addressing a serious topic in a not so serious way. He makes some good points about cultures, governments, jingoism, and wars, but mostly its just a fun romp in the Discworld.Posted by evan on November 14, 2001 01:54 PM

I read a few of the Discworld books back in college and found that they were quite fun. I remember something about Death retiring, the biogenesis of shopping malls, and a tall red-haired dude who wants to be a guard in Ankh-Morpork (the capital city). The fact that I can't remember more is probably evidence of the lack of any real seriousness or significance, but if you're looking for a very light read with lots of humor, these books aren't a bad place to look.
