I'd like to see a little bit more of this. Just what would we (and by we, I mean the people who are driving this war machine) do if we got rid of the current Iraqi regime? Oh, I remember, that's not important. We will magically be more secure. I keep forgetting about magic.
I don't know, Richard. If I really felt we were in danger, and I felt that we had a solid plan of what we were going to do, I could be more supportive of a war. The fact is I don't believe our government can be trusted. There are a lot of smart people there, but that is never enough, and there are also many people who are dangerously irresponsible (to put it lightly). There is no real analysis of the need for war happening in the capital. It's a ridiculous idea.
Sure, I'm a pacificist, I hate war. My grandparents who fought in WWII also hate war. Patriotism is loving your country, not asking "how high" when the president says "jump."
There is a big difference between a war that we have to fight, and a war that someone just seems to want without particularly sound justification. A war with Iraq, at this point, is clearly the latter.

Hey Joe,
I too am a pacifist; I grew up listening to the songs of John Denver, and I believe that love and tolerance are the virtues that lead us to godliness.. Not fear and aggression..
Still it seems that there must be times when war is necessary, even if undesireable, to keep democracy and freedom alive and safe from tyranny.. How can a person define this line?
