Journal Entry

:: Audio Site Open ::

I've just finished dinking around with the look of a new site, and it's ready to be shown: Home Audio Journal.

I'm getting started in music production at home. For years I've watched as friends have built up seemingly massive, overly complicated, expensive, mystifying home studio setups. I'm beginning to see that while some of these may be massive, they don't have to be complicated, nor do they have to be expensive.

As I've started messing around a bit, I've come up with questions that I wanted to answer for myself. Looking around on the web, it seems like there isn't much geared directly toward someone with my needs and experience, that is, an experienced musician and experienced computer user who has never done this particular thing before.

I'm hoping this site will be useful for other people too, but I'm sure it will be good for me. It's kind of similar to the way teaching helps one learn. If I force myself to write down the stuff I want to know, then write up my answers, I can feel a little more assured that I know what I'm talking about. And because comments are turned on for all articles, I can potentially get unsolicited help and advice.

There's not a lot there right now; assuming I actually stick with this, it should get fleshed out pretty steadily. I'm leaving a little banner at the top of the home page for a little bit to remind other people, and myself, about it. Enjoy!
