:: Girlyman ::

Now playing on the Chellman family stereo: Girlyman.

Last weekend was very busy for us. I had three gigs, and Evan and Emily were staying with us (one of their last stops on their month-long, pre-Nepal trip road trip). When Lis asked if she could stay with us Friday night, after the gig we were playing, we were happy to oblige. When she asked us if the group she was traveling with could stay too, we said sure, but were not as excited. Our new place has a good bit of space, but six people plus us and the dog was starting to feel hectic.

Never have concerns been so misplaced. Doris, Tammy, and Nate are three of the sweetest people we've ever met at once, and their music is similarly wonderful. Lisa and I were just talking about how amazing it is for three songwriters who have such good voices and songs to get together and make music together. They make it seem effortless and really fun. The sound of three people singing original music (or covers, like Born At The Right Time, or My Sweet Lord, which is on the record) together in harmony, and blending so well, is a rare and special treat.

If you've never heard of them, and let's face it, you probably haven't, do yourself the favor of checking out the music. If you get the chance to see them (they live in Brooklyn, but are doing some touring now), please do. You won't regret it. Really!
