This afternoon, Lisa and I watched our friend Morgan on Jeopardy. He was, in a word, TheMan. The show was, for someone rooting for Morgan, the perfect game show. He started out pretty quickly, amassing a substantial lead going into the second round. So we got to cheer him on as he mopped the floor with the other two contestants.
But the drama was heightened greatly in Double Jeopardy, when everyone caught right up. The previous day’s champion, who barely answered five questions in the first round, took a $1000 lead over Morgan by the end of Double Jeopardy. We were, as they say, on the edges of our seats.
Morgan got the Final Jeopardy question right, and the champ did not (the other guy was way behind going in, alas), so he won. It was really fun and exciting to see a cool, smart guy I know win, at least for a day, on a TV game show. And Jeopardy, no less, a game show I used to like watching growing up.
Don’t miss Morgan’s website, of course, but in particular his wagering strategies for Jeopardy. Morgan does like them mathematics.
These shows were taped two or three months ago, but I don’t know what’s going to happen yet. He’ll be on again on Monday, so we’ll be watching and hoping he wins again. I think he might.
I must be dreaming.

Posted by Stephanie at July 1, 2005 11:28 AMHe's such a handsome devil, it's true. I was greatly dismayed by the loss, but like he said, it seems he couldn't have lost to a nicer person.
Unless that nicer person might happened to have been ME.
