:: Health Care 2010 ::

Just for the record, here’s some of what I think about the health care reform business.

  1. There should not be a mandate in the bill if there’s no public option. I think there should be a public option, but if for some reason that can’t work right now, there’s nothing good about requiring people to have coverage from corporate health care companies. That doesn’t do anyone (except the insurance industry) any good.

  2. Refusing coverage based on pre-existing conditions is bad, and should be dropped. Too bad we can’t just have a bill that takes care of that little problem by itself.

  3. It shouldn’t be illegal to buy prescription drugs from Canada or any other place where they can be made more cheaply. Again, it would be nice to have this by itself.

  4. Until there’s some form of real campaign finance reform, we’re not going to get anywhere meaningful on this or any other large issues.

Any US citizen should be able to buy the same health and life insurance package(s) as ANY federal employee. Until that is available off the rack, I think ALL federal health insurance programs should be suspended. We pay them. I don't know if it is possible to have real campaign finance reform. They can spend a lot of time fussing about it but in the end. . . they will still figure a way around it. PAC's, cash in a bag, low / no interest mortgages. If they look like a game show host it is a no brainer that they are slimy.
