On this Memorial Day weekend I want to say I’m grateful that I’m able to feel generally secure because of the sacrifices others have made on the behalf of everyone. I’m glad these are particular sacrifices I’m not obligated to make, at least right now. In a time of war and conflict that has no end in sight (and an administration that has no apparent interest in trying to illuminate when that end might come), this is a complicated time of remembrance. I feel like the war we’re in right now is a mismanaged mistake, but I don’t really know what to do about it. For the moment, I’ll put that aside; in the past there have been just causes, and I remember the sacrifices those people made and am grateful.
