The country band I’m in, Tin Horse, doesn’t play many shows in our hometown anymore. Chicago lately is not a hotbed of country music fans, at least not contemporary mainstream country. There also aren’t a lot of venues where a seven-piece piece band that’s up-and-coming can fit on the stage — all those places expect you to have teeming masses of fans that you just can’t put together in a few months.
So it’s with great pleasure that I can say we’re actually playing in town. Next Thursday, the 15th, we’re playing Joe’s Bar, which is one of the few (only?) places in Chicago that books big country acts. We’re playing at 8 PM.
For the next couple of weeks, life kind of revolves around this band. We’re playing in Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Illinois over the next two weeks, playing seven days out of nine, and playing as many as 8 or 9 sets a day on one of those days. It’s going to be pretty brutal, but also pretty fun.
I’d like to say, for the record, that I’m glad we all got through the day of the beast (6/6/6). Some of us have a lot of practice with beasts, so it wasn’t a big deal, and besides, we had birthdays to keep us interested.
The fact that the dog is cute does not preclude her inherent beastiness.
The brother is in the states, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is all that matters. Except this, perhaps:
